I too love dark wood floors. We had iroko flooring in our last house and we loved it. It was easy to care for and wash. I would just use the vacuum on it and wash it with Murphy’s soap oil. It was much easier and faster to vacuum than carpet and a whole lot more hygienic.

Dark hardwood floors are beautiful and rich looking, but things to consider are they will make a room appear darker, if you have good natural lighting as well as the canned lighting that is adequate you should be ok, it is a matter of personal taste. Be sure to check the care instructions on the hardwood floor as if you use Murphys Oil soap on them it will void the warranty on the floor.
I use white vinegar and a damp cloth to clean my hardwood floors and a coat of Orange Glo for hardwood floors puts a great shine on them.
As for the widow treatment you didn’t give much info on the window size…..personally I like a nice valance and sheer curtains depends on how much privacy you want and how close your neighbors live. Good Luck, I think you will like the harwood floors, what color are your kitchen cabinets??
